We are moving the program towards codified standards and have created an approved book list, and prohibitions (not teaching literature or creative writing) and requirements (such as distinguishing Comp I from Comp II by using rhetorical modes or other similar ways to incorporate greater or higher-order and critical thinking in Comp II than what we do in Comp I), but we are a work in process now in that area.

We have a cap of 20, but 18 for Honors and 15 for International. Also, if a person is teaching three comp classes, the cap is lowerd for all three (i.e. this semester a person's caps were lowerd to 16)

The former English chair stepped down, and the new chair increased administrative support for the Director of Composition.

The new English Department Chair has a vision of lowering caps for all comp classes and finding greater support for the director of comp and for comp faculty.

We revised our Writing Track curriculum, mostly with an eye toward a more streamlined, sustainable rotation of course offerings. We will soon do the same for our Literature Track.

We cannot offer everything that our catalogue lists in a regular, sustainable fashion. We are also working to build more of a sense of cohort through our curricular sequencing. We do have a steady writing culture within our department, but we are not territorial in separating creative writing from rhetoric/composition. We do a bit of digital/new media writing, but we cannot devote standalone coursework to it. We are a small school.
